Key Responsibilities & Role Overview
📌 Primary Purpose:
The Human Capital Team is one of the largest teams in the FCDO, primarily focusing on education and health programs. The education sector budget for the Bangladesh FCDO office for the 2022-2028 period is approximately £54.5 million.
The Education Adviser will be a key member of this team, leading educational initiatives and collaborating with stakeholders. The role reports directly to the Human Capital Team Leader and involves policy influence, donor coordination, and government engagement in the education sector.
Responsibilities
📌 As a Member of the Human Development Team:
* Actively participate in policy and strategy discussions.
* Analyze education-related data and provide insights.
* Offer regular updates on education program progress.
* Work closely with the government to enhance education outcomes.
* Coordinate with the British Council and other educational initiatives.
📌 Education-Specific Responsibilities:
* Oversee two key bilateral projects: EQUIP-B and EMDC-B.
* Provide technical guidance to the government on education sector improvements.
* Ensure the effective implementation of FCDO’s global education investments.
* Collaborate with donors to deliver a coordinated message for education reform in Bangladesh.
* Lead research, evaluations, and annual reviews in the education sector.
📌 Additional Office Responsibilities:
* Support the British High Commission’s education and skills development strategy.
* Develop strategic plans to drive positive educational change in Bangladesh.
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
✅ Essential:
* Minimum 7 years of experience in the education sector.
* Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
* Experience in development project management.
* Proven ability to work with government, NGOs, and international organizations.
* Strong understanding of global education policies and trends.
✅ Desirable (Preferred):
* Experience in designing and implementing development projects.
* Policy engagement with government stakeholders.
* Expertise in educational research and impact-driven initiatives.
